About Us

Austral Candles was founded in Bundaberg, Qld in 1985 by Nick Martin, who developed a specialisation in church and commemorative candles. In 2019, the business was taken over by Simon Hicks and moved to Tenterfield, NSW.

All the candles we sell, we make ourselves.

All the products are hand-made using high quality materials to give excellent burning times and value for money. The beeswax we use is sourced locally from the New England area of NSW

To maintain smoke-free burning, trim wicks regularly. We usually recommend keeping the wicks trimmed to about 5mm
